About R.B. Bagley
San Saba, Texas is the birthplace of the “paper shell” pecan. In the 1880’s, in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Mr. Risien bred our native pecans into a very desirable nut, shipping the nuts and small pecan trees to every continent on Earth making San Saba “The Pecan Capital of the World”!
Our founder, R.B. Bagley, was key to that claim. R.B. saw promise in pecans and, in 1918, leaving home at the age of 19, he began his lifelong career in the pecan industry. From thrashing to growing them to buying and shipping pecans, by the late 1950’s, R.B. Bagley & Sons had become the largest pecan buyer in the US.
We, the descendants of R.B. Bagley, are proud to continue his family business traditions and are celebrating 101 years in the Texas pecan industry!
